The FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) celebrated 15 years of India Couture Week with the dreamiest 8 day long runway event. Yet again, Daniel Bauer Academy had the wonderful opportunity to be the lead makeup and hair team for the biggest fashion show of the country.
Tarun Tahiliani opened FDCI’s India Couture Week 2022 with his beautiful collection titled ‘The Painterly Dream’. We witnessed some of the finest outfits backstage. What a beautiful show, all of us got to be a part of! Daniel Bauer Academy couldn’t be happier heading the makeup and hair team for India Couture Week 2022.
Daniel Bauer Academy’s team had around 30 makeup and hair artists, all of which have been, or are currently our students and its nothing less than a blessing to have our students come experience what it takes to work with the topmost designers, on the most prestigious fashion shows of India. We’re regarded as the best makeup academy in Asia mainly because of the student support and placements we offer after giving them a state-of-the-art training in both makeup and hair.
For this show, the look had to be a very dewy base, nicely blushed and contoured cheeks, beautiful lashes, light brown smokey eyes, with the good ol’ defined brows. With the sultry kohl eyes and the perfect nude lips, it was very important for our students to pull off a flawless, fresh glowing base, which they absolutely did, and all the models looked so stunning! Words can’t describe how proud we are of Daniel Bauer academy students.
For most of our students, this was their first backstage runway experience, and we saw how they overcame the challenges that came their way, and came out of their comfort zone. They learnt how to work under pressure which helped them gain so much self confidence. Having good self esteem is very important for an artist, because it clearly reflects in your work.
The hair brief for this show, was sleek clean bun with a centre parting. Though it looks really simple, its in fact of the difficult ones to do, as its very important to have that very clean shiny finish. With tough deadlines, our team was able to achieve all the given looks, and learn many new hairstyling techniques on the job. What a thrilling experience it was, to see our students get so used to the backstage shenanigans, like they were born to do this.
This experience looked like a very intense yet satisfying day for our students. We saw how they loved every bit of their beautiful backstage chaos, and gathered so much confidence in their makeup and hairstyling skills.
The director, designers, and all the models were so impressed with their glam team, and we’re so thankful for that. Our students were full of gratitude for being part of this magical experience we had to offer. It really helped them understand the reality of working in the Indian fashion industry.
It feels so good to see our students interact with models, build connections with them, make their models feel comfortable, all while not getting distracted from their job as a makeup and hair stylist at all times. Daniel Bauer academy students did feel the pressure of delivering the best at some point but their past experiences at the academy, and their faith in the best learning kept them going forward. Experiences like these, really help our students perfect their art and be such thorough professionals.
Thank you to team Tarun Tahiliani for having us work with all of you again. These are memories that will be treasured forever.
