After doing Lakmé Fashion Week for years and years, Daniel Bauer Academy team was invited to lead the makeup team for London Fashion Week this year. Yes, the ‘Big Four’ alongside Paris, Milan and New York Fashion week. London Fashion Week puts fashion in the spotlight and celebrates it with Londoners, fashion lovers, buyers and media and what a privilege it has been for Daniel Bauer Academy students to experience this alongside Daniel himself.
Daniel Bauer academy worked on the Patrick McDowell show in London fashion week FW23, a brand that is so close to our heart because like Anna Wintour, Vogue rightly said, “sustainability is at the core of everything he does as he strives to re-invent luxury through a sustainable mindset”.
We had Daniel Bauer academy students from Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore batches going all the way from Batch 1 until Batch 21 and it was such an honour to witness all of them work as this strong knit team and be brilliant artists backstage. Many Daniel Bauer Academy students join the academy to one day move to another country and start a freelancing makeup artist career there, and luckily for us, we could get all of London students to come and be a part of our team on this one.
Cinderella shall go to the Football – this was the theme of Patrick Mcdowell’s London Fashion Week show. The idea of putting the femme into football and redefining the same to further Queer culture in football was such an interesting concept for Daniel Bauer Academy makeup artists to work on. From super well defined jaw lines, to bold colour strokes, shaved eyebrows and metallic eyes, we did it all.
London Fashion Week backstage turned into a makeup Disneyland for all our makeup artists because they went all out with creative, futuristic makeup looks. Daniel Bauer Academy team’s assignment was to translate the overall image and look of the fashion show, bring their vision to reality and they sure did understand the assignment 🙂
For most makeup artists, one of their greatest milestones is the opportunity to work in the fashion industry, and we are so thankful to be able to provide such global work opportunities for Daniel Bauer Academy students. With Daniel, their mentor being present on this project with all the students, the energy was on another level, and we truly couldn’t have asked for anything more wholesome. We are certain that this was just the start, and we can’t keep mum for long about all the exciting projects we are going to be doing in the near future. London fashion week, you have our heart forever.
